Artist Statement

In a world saturated with the disposable, my ceramic work seeks to slow down time and enrich the rituals of everyday life. From the simple pleasure of a morning coffee to the intimacy of a shared meal, my pieces are created to transform ordinary moments into meaningful experiences. Each form is initially thrown bottomless on the potter’s wheel, then altered as the clay begins to stiffen. Through the process of darting—cutting and reshaping the clay—I accentuate the natural, figurative qualities of the pots. By refining the lip, belly and foot, I focus on nurturing the anatomy of each vessel, drawing out its unique character.

Inspired by floral metaphors and deep personal reflection, my carved designs flow across each piece, intertwining with obscure handwritten text that bridges my inner beliefs with the tangible world. Soft glazes are chosen to elevate the textures and invite touch, enhancing the sensory experience.

Through these thoughtful choices, I aim to create objects that not only serve a function but also foster connection, contemplation, and a deeper appreciation for the beauty found in everyday life.
